The jewelry reflects the blending of cultures, styles and generations…. East meets West, old meets new, antique meets contemporary. Kate collects unique pendants and beads from around the world, combining them with semi-precious stones to create ethnic jewelry rarely encountered.

Katie Sherman and her husband moved to the Middle East in June 2004 after receiving her Masters in Social Work at Baylor University in 2001. Kate has always had a flare for the arts as well as a heart to empower the poor. Combining her passion for the creative as well as social justice, Cultural Designs by Kate, LLC was birthed. Kate has found that the most effective way to empower the poor is providing jobs (instead of handouts) so women can attain sustainable income to support their families. Kate is training women in the craft of jewelry-making, instilling dignity and hope, while bringing you unique pieces that are sure to be conversation starters. Our dream is that this business would expand and multiply to touch poor women all around the world.
